The Lebor Gabála Érenn recounts the Fomorians, malevolent giants led by Balor, who lived on Tory Island. Prophesied to die by his grandson, Balor imprisoned his daughter Ethlinn, but she bore triplets. One, Lugh, survived and later fulfilled the prophecy by slaying Balor with a spear, ending his tyranny.
