The Church of Santa Maria in Valicella, known as Chiesa Nuova, has a wonderful Late Renaissance façade designed by Giacomo Della Porta and Carlo Maderno. Its style can be compared to the Baroque façade of the Oratorio dei Filippini by Borromini that is right next to it. The church hosts an altarpiece by Rubens with a mechanism that is activated on special occasions revealing an old sacred icon.
