The Dutch sold Fort Crèvecœur to the British, led by Herbert Taylor John Ussher. Ussher Fort emerged under his leadership, later becoming a prison. Political and low-class citizens were held here. It held historical figures like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and was used for executions.
