The Quirinale Palace was built in 1583 for Gregory XIII as a summer residence. In 1587 Sixtus V bought it and decided to move here permanently. The renovation was made by Domenico Fontana. In 1870 it became the Royal Palace of the kings of Italy and it’s now the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic.
