Slave Stories in the Paintings

During the era of the slave trade, tribal wars led to the capture of prisoners of war. Ghana had 63 slave markets, but only two are extensively documented for their significant roles: Salaga and Asin Manso. Captives, often prisoners of war, endured a grueling 400-mile journey in chains and shackles from the northern regions to Asin Manso, walking barefoot and half-naked.
