Tain Story 2

The Táin Bó Cúailnge continues with Queen Medb’s invasion of Ulster, where the Red Branch Knights, Ulster’s defenders, fall under the curse of the goddess Macha, suffering labor pains in their hour of need. This leaves only the boy hero Cú Chulainn to defend Ulster. Immune to the curse due to his youth and divine lineage—his father being the god Lugh—Cú Chulainn takes on Medb’s advancing armies, determined to secure his place in legend, much like Achilles in Greek mythology. This epic tale, preserved in ancient manuscripts like Lebor na hUidre, showcases Ireland’s rich storytelling tradition.
