Here on the Hill of Tara, the ancient seat of the High Kings of Ireland, lies the Lia Fáil or Stone of Destiny. This inauguration stone, central to Irish kingship, was believed to cry out if the rightful king was crowned. Tara, in the royal province of Meath, symbolized Ireland’s unity during the Iron Age, with the High King reigning over the four provinces—Ulster, Munster, Connacht, and Leinster.
