The Tunnel to the Door of No Return

The tunnel, once 80 meters long, linked the male slave dungeon to the Door of No Return. Healthy men were forced through it, while sick or weak ones were kept in a separate cell. The tunnel was walled up in 1833 or 1834 to mark the end of the transatlantic slave trade. Visitors, including Barack Obama, have left wreaths in tribute to those who suffered in the dungeons.
