The Villa of the Medici family in Rome was commissioned by Ferdinando de Medici, a cardinal and later the second Grand Duke of Tuscany, and designed by Bartolomeo Ammannati. The Villa now hosts one of the most prestigious French art institutions: Académie de France à Rome.
