What happened to the Tairona culture?

Spaniash expeditions in Colombia created conflicts between the locals and them. The Taironas who were the locals then decided to move further up the mountains to avoid the influence of the Spaniards. By migrating up the mountains they merged with other tribes who decided to do the same. This is the reason the four main tribe groups found are considered descendants of the Tairona tribe. These places were long forgotten until 1970s were grouip of looters started expeditions from Santa Marta all the way up the mountains scavenging for gold, ceramics and precious minerals.
